The Crew

It all started in may 1989, when German TV-journalist Michael Mattig-Gerlach was invited to produce a documentary about the concert of a German Rock Group in Vilnius/Lithuania during “Vilnius Rock 1989”. He met the director of the festival Gintautas Babravicius and his Crew – and helped to build up the first independant radio station in the Sovietunion, Radiocentras M 1. This station was opened and went on air end of december 1989.

Some journeys and expedition was organised in the years after this start of frienddship and cooperation between Lithuania and Germany. So they travelled together to the Caucasus, to Georgia, to Kamtschatka and – 1994/95 – they crossed together Westafrica from Tanger to Cotonou/Benin. All these trips was documented and published in German and Lituanian Television.

After the independence of Lithuania, Babravicius organised numerous journeys all over the world with his Klajūnų klubas,  the Lithuanian travel club (Tunguska, Mongolia, Himalaya, Bolivia, Chili, USA). Finaly he develloped the structure and idea for“Journey over the world”.

  1. Wonderful blog! Have you got any tips for aspiring writers?

I’m hoping to start my own, personal blog soon but I’m a little bit lost on everything.
Do you propose beginning with a no cost platform like WordPress or
take a paid option? There are many options around that I’m completely
confused .. Any tips? Appreciate it!
